Josh Pastner Hired to Be Memphis Coach

Memphis has tapped Josh Pastner to be Tigers’ new basketball coach. Pastner was formerly an assistant under John Calipari, who is now an ex-coach of Tigers. Bob Winn, the school’s athletics spokesman said that the university would announce the new appointment of Pastner at the news conference that is scheduled for noon Central Tuesday.

Calipari is Kentucky’s new basketball coach after spending nine seasons as the Tigers’ Coach.

Pastner is regarded to be a strong recruiter. He worked under Calipari for one year. Pastner was a former player and an assistant coach at Arizona.

Pastnre  already has some credit. When he was an assistant to former Arizona coach Lute Olson, the Wildcats averaged 23 wins per season, captured two Pac-10 regular season titles, advanced to two NCAA Tournament regional finals and made six-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Red Sox Opening Day Against Rays

It’s a sure sign that spring is here — Opening Day at Fenway Park.

The baseball 2009 season would be opened by the Red Sox at Fenway Park, their home town. The Red Sox would play against the Tampa Bay Rays, the defending American League champions.

There is a possibility of a rainfall on Monday according to meteorologist. If the game doesn’t hold on Monday, the baseball season will start Tuesday, the next day.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy is expected to throw out the first pitch.

ECHL Bryan Ewing is Rookie of the Year

On Saturday, the East Coast Hockey League, ECHL announced that Bryan Ewing of the Wheeling Nailers is the CCM Rookie of the Year. Ewing would also receive the John A. Dailey Memorial Trophy.

This is an annual event. The player is selected by the coaches of the ECHL teams. The coaches select the player that is the most useful in his first year of the ECHL competition.

The NFL announces Partial 2009 Schedule

The NFL announced that the Super Bowl defending champion, Pittsburgh Steelers will play against the Tennessee Titans. The game would be hosted by Steelers on Sept. 10 and will be broadcasted on NBC.

Sept. 13, NBC will show the Chicago Bears versus Green Bay Packers at Green Bay in the Sunday night prime-time opener on .

According to NBC sports,

The NFL announced its entire 2009 kickoff weekend national TV schedule, including a Monday night doubleheader on ESPN on Sept. 14. That doubleheader, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the American Football League, will be the Buffalo Bills at the New England Patriots followed by the San Diego Chargers at the Oakland Raiders.

The NFL also announced its Thanksgiving Day lineup, with the Green Bay Packers at the Detroit Lions on FOX, followed by the Oakland Raiders at the Dallas Cowboys on CBS and the New York Giants at the Denver Broncos on the NFL Network.

The complete 2009 regular-season schedule will be announced in April.

Terrell Owens and Roy Williams are Free From Cowboys.

Controversial  Terrell Owens, wide receiver of Dallas Cowboys was released from them (Dallas Cowboys) on Wednesday night.

According to MSNBC, “The Cowboys informed Owens that they had decided to go another direction Wednesday night, the Morning News reported. Owens played three seasons with the Cowboys. He received a $12 million signing bonus last year as part of a four-year, $34 million deal.”

Owens will have enough time to spend with sons Terique and Atlin. According to Ownes, they are his inspirations.

Golf Channel For PGA Tour

The Golf channel would broadcast the first round of Tiger Woods games in these presence PGA tour games.

This is Tiger’s first game since his reconstructive knee injury eight months ago.

Tiger Woods will defend his title against Australian Brendan Jones in Wednesday’s opening round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

Dwyane Wade sues estranged Wife, Attorneys

It was reported by the associated pres that Dwyane Wade sued his estranged wife and two of her lawyers on Wednesday over accusations that the Miami Heat star contracted a sexually transmitted disease through an extramarital affair.

In the lawsuit, Wade is seeking at least $50,000 in damages from each defendant. Last month, Siohvaughn Wade said Wade infected her with a sexually transmitted disease in 2007. She later retracted the claim from the court hearing the divorce case for unspecified reasons.

Roberto Alomar is Sued by Ilya Dall

This is a wierd case. Roberto Alomar, a former baseman in baseball, is sued by Ilya Dall, his ex-girlfriend. Ilaya is claiming that she contacted  the deadly virus, AIDS from Alomar. She is suing him for $15 million, and she claims in the lawsuit that Roberto knew that he might had AIDS  had unprotected sex with her.

Selena Roberts and Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez finally came clean about his steriod use. He sure did the right thing by  coming clean about his use of steroids in his interview with Peter Gammons (I hope so because he lied in 2007′s 60minutes interview). But I don’t know where his bitterness for Selena Roberts,  SI reporter, comes from. Oh, I forgot. She was the reporter that broke the story that he was using steroid. A-rod claims she is stalking him.
